Prayminder Privacy Policy
Last updated: Aug 31, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Prayminder AB ("Prayminder", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and retains personal data when you use the Prayminder mobile application (the "App"), visit our website at prayminder.com(the "Website"), subscribe to our newsletter, contact our support team, or make a donation (collectively, the "Services").
Prayminder AB is a company registered in Sweden (org. nr 559473-5531) and is the data controller responsible for the processing described in this Policy. You can reach us at privacy@prayminder.com.
By using the Services, you acknowledge the practices described in this Policy.
1. Our Approach to Your Prayers
Your prayers are private. The App is designed so that the content of your prayers (names, notes, and prayer statistics) is stored only on your device. We do not transmit your prayer content to our servers, and we have no ability to read, access, or recover it. No account or registration is required to use the App, and we maintain no user accounts of any kind.
2. Information We Collect and Process
2.1 Prayer Content (Stored on Your Device Only)
Prayer names, notes, and prayer statistics are stored in a local database on your device. This information:
- is never transmitted to Prayminder or to our service providers;
- leaves your device only if you choose to export it to a file (see Section 7), or through your device's own backup service (see Section 8); and
- is deleted when you delete the App or clear its data.
2.2 Installation Identifier and Support ID
The App does not use accounts. Instead, on first launch, the App generates a random installation identifier. This identifier is not derived from your device hardware, is not an advertising identifier, and is not linked to your name, email address, or any other directly identifying information. A new identifier is generated if you reinstall the App or clear its data.
A Support ID (displayed in the App's Settings) is derived from the installation identifier. It allows you to reference your installation when contacting support or exercising your privacy rights, without disclosing the underlying identifier. Where the App has not registered with our reminder service, a placeholder value is shown instead, and no corresponding record exists that can be looked up.
2.3 Reminders and Our Reminder Service
How reminders work depends on your platform:
- On iOS, reminders are local by default: they are scheduled entirely on your device and involve no transmission of data to us. Optional Cloud-Assisted Reminders improve reminder reliability by scheduling delivery from our servers; this feature is off by default, operates only if you enable it, and can be disabled at any time in Settings.
- On Android, reminders are delivered through our reminder service, and the App registers with that service by default. You can turn reminders off in Settings, which stops reminder delivery; however, the registration data described below remains on our reminder service until it is deleted under our retention rules (Section 6) or upon your request (Section 7). This applies to Android versions 1.5.0 and later of the App; earlier Android versions did not communicate with our reminder service at all.
While the App is registered with our reminder service, we process the following information:
- your installation identifier and Support ID;
- a push notification token issued by Apple or Google, used solely to deliver notifications to your device;
- your reminder preferences (time zone, preferred reminder window, number of reminders per day, and on/off state);
- randomly generated prayer reference codes, which stand in for your prayers for rotation purposes; these codes contain no prayer content, and we hold no means of connecting them to any prayer name or note;
- technical information used to diagnose delivery failures (app version, operating system version, and device model); and
- a delivery log recording which reminder reference was sent and when.
Reminder notifications delivered to your device contain no prayer content. The notification text is composed on your device by matching the reference code against your local prayer database.
2.4 Bible Reading
Where the App includes Bible features, Bible text is retrieved from our licensed scripture provider, YouVersion, through a Prayminder-operated intermediary service. Requests to the scripture provider include only the passage reference and your app language setting. Your installation identifier, Support ID, and IP address are not shared with the scripture provider, and we do not log which passages you read.
2.5 Analytics and Crash Reporting
We use Google Firebase services (including Google Analytics for Firebase, Crashlytics, and Performance Monitoring) to understand aggregate usage of the App, diagnose crashes, and improve stability and performance. These services process:
- app interaction events (for example, that a feature was opened) associated with a randomly generated, app-specific analytics identifier;
- approximate location at the country, region, or city level, derived by Google from your IP address;
- device and app information such as device model, operating system version, and app version; and
- crash and performance diagnostics.
We do not collect advertising identifiers (such as the IDFA), we do not use analytics data for advertising, and we do not sell analytics data. The analytics identifier is not linked to your installation identifier or Support ID, and analytics events do not include your prayer content or the specific Bible passages you read.
2.6 Website Visits
Our Website is hosted by Framer, with network delivery and security services provided by Cloudflare. When you visit the Website, these providers receive your IP address and ordinary technical request information as a necessary part of serving the site.
The Website uses Framer's privacy-focused analytics, which reports aggregate information such as page views, referral sources, visitor country, device type, and browser. According to Framer, unique visitors are counted using a hashing technique with a secret that rotates and is deleted daily, so that no persistent visitor identifier is created. The Website does not use advertising cookies.
2.7 Support Requests
When you contact us through the in-app support form or the Website contact form, we collect your message, your email address, any attachments you provide, and your name if you choose to give it. Form submissions are processed by Tally, our form provider.
Submissions made from within the App also include your Support ID (or the placeholder value), device model, operating system version, and app version, to help us assist you. This is the only circumstance in which information you provide directly (such as your email address) is associated with your Support ID.
2.8 Newsletter
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we process your email address and, if you provide it, your name, through our newsletter provider, Ghost. Newsletter emails include open and click measurement. Every email contains an unsubscribe link, which takes effect immediately.
2.9 Donations
Donations are processed on the web through Stripe's hosted checkout. Your payment card details are provided directly to Stripe and are never received or stored by Prayminder. In connection with a donation, we receive your email address and, if provided, your name and an optional message. Donating does not subscribe you to the newsletter, and no donation information is linked to your use of the App.
3. Purposes and Legal Bases
We process personal data for the following purposes:
- To provide the Services you request — delivering reminders, retrieving Bible text, responding to support requests, delivering the newsletter you subscribed to, and processing donations (performance of a contract or steps taken at your request; consent, where applicable).
- To maintain and improve the App and Website — analytics, crash reporting, and performance monitoring (our legitimate interest in operating, securing, and improving the Services).
- To comply with legal obligations — including retention of donation records under Swedish accounting law.
4. Sharing of Personal Data
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share personal data with third parties for advertising purposes. We share personal data only with the service providers that process it on our behalf or as independent providers of infrastructure services:
| Provider | Role |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Hosting of our reminder service (United States) |
| Cloudflare | Network delivery, security, and routing for our domains |
| Framer | Website hosting and website analytics |
| Google (Firebase) | Analytics, crash reporting, performance monitoring, push notification delivery, and delivery of in-app content |
| Apple | Push notification delivery (iOS) |
| YouVersion | Bible text provider (receives passage reference and app language only) |
| Tally | Support and contact form processing |
| Ghost | Newsletter delivery |
| Stripe | Donation payment processing |
We may also disclose personal data where required by applicable law or legal process, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
5. International Data Transfers
Some of our service providers store or process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards under applicable data protection law, including adequacy decisions (such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, where the recipient is certified) and the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal data no longer than necessary for the purposes described in this Policy:
- Prayer content remains on your device for as long as the App is installed and is never held by us.
- Reminder service data: if your installation shows no activity for 60 days, reminder delivery is suspended; after 90 days of inactivity, the installation record is deleted from our reminder service. Reminder delivery logs are retained for 30 days. Turning reminders off stops scheduling immediately. On iOS, disabling Cloud-Assisted Reminders means the associated record is then deleted under the inactivity rules above, or earlier upon request (Section 7). On Android, the App remains registered with the reminder service while you continue to use it, so the installation record is deleted 90 days after you last use the App, or earlier upon request (Section 7).
- Analytics data is retained in accordance with our analytics configuration; user-level analytics data is retained for up to 14 months in analytics reporting. We additionally retain analytics event data for internal analysis.
- Support conversations are retained for as long as needed to resolve your request and for a reasonable period thereafter.
- Newsletter data is retained until you unsubscribe.
- Donation records are retained as required by Swedish accounting law.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your circumstances, you have the following rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- the right of access to your personal data;
- the right to rectification of inaccurate personal data;
- the right to erasure;
- the right to restriction of processing;
- the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- the right to data portability; and
- the right to withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
In-app controls. You may turn reminders off at any time in Settings. On iOS, this disables Cloud-Assisted Reminders entirely; on Android, it stops reminder delivery, while the registration data described in Section 2.3 remains until it is deleted under our retention rules (Section 6) or upon your request (below). You may also export your prayer data to a file that remains entirely under your control. Please note that the export file is not encrypted; you are responsible for storing it securely.
Requesting deletion of reminder data. To request early deletion of the data held by our reminder service, email privacy@prayminder.com and quote the Support ID shown in the App's Settings. The Support ID is our only means of locating your installation record; without it, we hold no information capable of identifying you or your installation. Because prayer content never leaves your device, deleting the App or clearing its data removes your prayer content permanently; we hold no copy and cannot recover it for you.
Support, newsletter, and donation data. Requests concerning data you provided through support forms, the newsletter, or donations can also be directed to privacy@prayminder.com. Where we can locate the data by the email address you used, we will action your request, subject to legal retention obligations (for example, for donation records).
Complaints. You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, IMY), or the supervisory authority of your habitual residence or place of work.
8. Device Backups
If you use your device's backup service (Apple iCloud Backup or Android backup), your App data (including your prayer content and installation identifier) is included in that backup. Backups are made to your own Apple or Google account under that provider's terms and are controlled by your device and account settings. Prayminder has no access to your backups and cannot read, restore, or delete them. Restoring a backup to a new device restores your prayer content and preserves your existing Support ID.
9. Security
We design the Services to minimize the personal data we hold: prayer content never reaches our servers, reminder data is limited to what delivery requires, prayer reference codes held by our reminder service cannot be connected to prayer content, and our intermediary services do not retain request logs or IP addresses. Data on your device is protected by your device's operating system protections, including device encryption where enabled. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children
The Services are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Because the App requires no account and prayer content remains on the device, we receive no information identifying any user's age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data (for example, through the support form), please contact us at privacy@prayminder.com.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by a revised "Last updated" date. Where changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to bring them to your attention. Your continued use of the Services after an update constitutes acknowledgment of the revised Policy.
